HMS Sökaren, Swedish Navy minesweeper MRF01
Photographed on 4 January 2009 in Öckerö shipyard.
This is a remote-controlled vessel designed in Denmark, where there are several in the Danish Navy. Of course she can also be manned, with a complement of 7. Built of glassfibre, she was delivered from Danyard in Ålborg in 2001.
The design is based on the Danish Navy vessels that are used for remote-controlled minesweeping and mine-hunting in the Standard Flex 300 system. MRF 01 has been used by the Swedish 4th Mine Warfare Fleet for remote-controlled minesweeping trials. These were part of the development of the ROSSS (Remote Operated Sweep and Sensor System). It appears that further trial and evaluations are in progress.
Length: 26.3 m, Beam: 7 m, Displacement: 129 tonnes, Max. speed: 12 knots.
