The 14,430 tons passenger vessel Uganda was built in 1952 by Barclay Curle, Whiteinch (Glasgow). She changed name in 1986 to Triton and was wrecked at Chichin, near Kaohsiung (Taiwan) in 1986.

I remember Uganda being an educational ship offering cruises for schoolchildren, although I was never lucky enough to go on one. There is in fact a history of Uganda on the Internet, relating her many guises.

The 'Uganda' finally left Falmouth under own steam with ceremony on her very last voyage to the 'cutter's torch' in Taiwan in 1986. Only four years earlier , she was gaining Battle Honours as part of the Falklands Task Force to regain the Falkland Islands in 1982.
