SS St Erik

Late evening and the "beer boat" arrives at Brännö island just outside Gothenburg with supplies for the regular Thursday evening dance, immortalised in a song by the Swedish balladeer Evert Taube.
Her main task is to take tourists around the archipelago.
A steamship, she was built in 1881 by Lindholmens Varv Ab, Göteborg and is still going strong!

Would love to do a trip on this old girl, is she still operating ?
regards Paul.

Oh, yes, although during the winter months she is moored at Lilla Bommen in Gothenburg, she will be chugging around the archipelago as usual when the summer season starts again.

I seem to have forgotten to mention that this photograph was taken and supplied by me! Is it possible to correct the "Courtesy of" field?

Thank you for the prompt correction! More ship pictures to come in the next few days!

I took a trip on her to Marstrand on 7 July and found that the steam boilers were removed in 1950, to be replaced by a diesel engine. I believe that the current engine is a Caterpillar D343 TD producing 343 hp and a speed of 11 knots.
Gross tonnage is 292 and dimensions are length: 37.42 m, Beam: 5.95 m and Draught: 2.4 m. IMO 5422540. Her official name since 1996 has been St Erik av Göteborg, although just St Erik is displayed on her bows. I can confirm that her navigational equipment on the bridge uses the very latest technology!
