BP British Pioneer

Registered in the Isle of Man, the British Pioneer is a crude oil carrier with a capacity of 320,000 tons. Seems to have a fairly neat turning circle in this pic!

This ship is not the sister ship of the British Ranger. The Ranger was my first ship with bp in 1998 and was one of four "R" class left from the seventies. The Pioneer and the other "P" class ship replaced the "R" class when they were scrapped. The Ranger was a great old ship, shame the new ones are not. I have just left bp after 10 years.

I sailed on the old British Pioneer in 1952, she later became Clyde Pioneer,
then reverted back to her original name before being scrapped. You just cant imagine the difference in two ships.Dave

I sailed on the previous British Pioneer to this one. I was on it when we handed it over to a Turkish company - it had been renamed to TISPION before we handed it over.
