Soviet passenger ship 'Khabarovsk' of 1962

Vladivostok-registered passenger/cargo ship "Khabarovsk" (5,235 tons gross, built 1962 by Mathias-Thesen Werft, Wismar, East Germany), operated by the Far East Shipping Co., leaving Yokohama in December 1970. She first served on the Nakhodka (near Vladivostok) to Japan service & later between Singapore & Australia. She was sold in 1988 to Crosby Corp. of Panama & renamed "Sounds of Orient" but was reported "out of service" the following year. She was a near-sister to the 1959-built "Grigory Ordjonikidze" (see picture 22979)

I was a passenger from Perth to Singapore in 1972. I still have my boarding pass! It was fun to stand on the foredeck and watch the flying fish spring up from the bough every time it crashed into a wave. Fond memories of the trip.
