British cargo ship 'Warina' of 1955

London-registered general cargo ship "Warina" (8,701 tons gross, built by John Brown & Co., Clydebank) at Karachi, West Pakistan, in July 1970. She was completed in October 1955 as "Whangaroa" for New Zealand Shipping Co. Ltd., London. In 1965 she was transferred (within the P&O Group) to Union S.S. Co. of New Zealand Ltd. & renamed "Wainui", & transferred again to B.I. in 1970. In 1971 she was sold to Admiti Shipping Co., Famagusta, & renamed "Garoufalia"; in 1972 she passed to Ganadera Sudamerica S.A., Famagusta, & renamed "Dromeus" but reverted to ownership of Admiti in 1973 under her previous name. She was sold for breaking up at Kaohsiung in 1974.
