British cargo ship 'Teesta' of 1956 (1)

London-registered general cargo ship "Teesta" (8,202 tons gross, built by John Brown & Co., Clydebank), owned by British India Steam Nav. Co., at Dammam, Saudi Arabia, in April 1971. She was completed in November 1956 as "Salmara" for Peninsular & Oriental Steam Nav. Co. In 1966 she was transferred (within the P&O Group) to Eastern & Australian S.S. Co. & renamed "Arakawa", then transferred again to B.I. in 1970. In 1973 she reverted to P&O & 2 years later was renamed "Strathloyal". She was sold for scrap at Gadani Beach, Pakistan, in November 1977.
