British cargo ship 'Auckland Star' of 1953

London-registered steam turbine general cargo ship "Auckland Star" (11,799 tons gross, built 1953 by Cammell Laird & Co., Birkenhead), owned by Salient Shipping Co. (Bermuda) Ltd. (managers: Blue Star Line Ltd., London) at Timaru, New Zealand, in May 1975. Between 1972 & 1974 she had been renamed "Concordia Star" while chartered to a Norwegian company. In 1974 she was sold to an Italian owner & renamed "Cortina" and was scrapped in 1978.

Think you have your facts wrong. I sailed on her and took her to scrap still named Auckland Star.

Thanks for the correction! On re-checking I see that it was the Australia Star (1965) that became the "Cortina" & was also the one chartered to the Norwegians. So the last 2 sentences of my original text should be ignored, except for the scrapping date which I believe is correct. Apologies for my mistake!
