West German passenger ship 'Astor' of 1981
Passenger ship "Astor" (18,835 tons gross, completed December 1981 by Howaldtwerke-Deutsche Werft, Hamburg, with a passenger capacity of 942), owned by HADAG Seetouristik & Fährdienst, Hamburg, at Oslo in 1982. She was sold in 1984 to Safmarine of South Africa without change of name but quickly resold the following year to East Germany's Deutsche Seerederei & renamed "Arkona". After some changes in nominal ownership she was chartered in 2001 to Transocean Tours (who, confusingly, by then already had a ship named "Astor" built to almost the same plan by the same builder as the original "Astor") & renamed "Astoria". In 2009 she was bought by Saga Cruises & initially renamed "Saga Pearl II", being renamed "Quest for Adventure" in 2012, under which name she still operates.
