Refer also to Picture#15652; a view taken on board the previous ATLANTIC CONVEYOR at Greenock in August 1971.
Built by Swan Hunter at Walker in 1970 she was one of the Ships Taken Up From Trade for the Falklands Campaign in 1982. On May 25th she was struck by an Exocet missile and completely burned out with the loss of 12 of her crew including her Master. She was later sunk by gunfire from a Royal Navy warship and the wreck is now a designated War Relic.
