MELROSE ABBEY in Rotterdam

Referring also to picture #14630; another shot which I took of her in Rotterdam's Parkhaven in September 1967. She had been "taken over" in a block booking by the World Ship Society for a round trip.

I remember looking over Parkhaven and the Muellerquai from the observation deck of the Euromast and seeing the AHL ships below - the cargo liner MV Melrose Abbey and the cargo freighter MV Leeds - around 1963/4

The Melrose Abbey and the Bolton Abbey: wonderful memories!! From Rotterdam to Hull v.v. On arrival in Hull up north by bus to (near) Middlesbrough, via Bridlington and Scarborough. Our family made that trip many, many times in the 50s and 60s, to spend our summer holidays in Yorks!! I will never forget those crossings with AHL for as long as I live (73 now, so it's a long time ago).

Ed - if you go to my FLICKR site you will see many pictures of Associated Humber Lines (AHL) ships including many of the Melrose and the Bolton Abbey - and interior shots as well. Hope they bring back memories
