One of the first generation of container ships completed in 1969 by Deutsche Werft in Hamburg. They were originally steam turbine but were converted to diesel in the 1980s. Having said that I'm not too sure if FLINDERS was done.
She was scrapped in October 1996 at Alang.

I was on her in january 1985 as an engineer cadet and she was still steam then, and there was no talk of her being converted, she was on the high speed med to Australia run when I was on her

As far as I'm aware she was the only one of the bay boats still steam, kept for the high speed run, I am pretty sure all the big bays were converted

Were you on-board early year 1985, Athens - Melbourne - Sydney ?
I was onboard as Engineer on the yacht Southern Cross II that was transported as cargo from Greece to Australia.
