AFON CEFNI and SYLLINGAR

Small Holyhead Towing tug and former Scillies ferry at Greenock in February 1986.
Not too sure about the tug but SYLLINGAR was built in 1956 by Thornycroft at Southampton as SCILLONIAN for the Penzance to Scillies service.
In 1976 she became DEVONIA and operated on the Thames for a while then became SYLLINGAR in 1984 and worked in Orkney/ Shetland I think.
She was in the process of being sold again when this was taken and was renamed REMVI and towed away for service in the Med.
Don't know what happened to her after that.

Interested to know what she did on the Thames, having worked around the Thames most of my life I have no recollection of seeing her there,I did travel on her to Scillies one very windy saturday. regards JB

Under P&A Campbell she did trips from Tower Pier to Southend and round the anchored ships. Her stay there was not long before she moved again. I did the sail in September 1977 a grand day out.
