She was built in 1966 as EUGENIO C at the Riuniti Adriatico yard at Monfalcone in Italy. She was later renamed EUGENIO COSTA.
She had a spell under British registry from 1997 until 2000 as EDINBURGH CASTLE which venture was not very successful.
She then received the unimaginative names of BIG RED BOAT, RED BOAT and BIG RED BOAT II going to breakers as that in 2005 after the collapse of the owning company.
